New reproduction automatic neutral safety switch for 1958 Chevy models. Located on the steering column, this switch is a critical safety feature and was installed on all Chevy models. It ensures that the starter motor can only be activated when the transmission is in Park or Neutral, preventing the vehicle from lurching forward or backward when the engine is started. In addition to preventing unwanted movement, the neutral switch controls the reverse lights. When the transmission is shifted into Reverse, the reverse back up lights illuminate.
